Golf, kayaking, soccer and children’s activities fill fun-filled day

The WaterSound community is hosting their third annual Summer at the Sound family-fun day on June 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Village Commons, the community’s central gathering spot located at 530 Pathways Drive.  This event is free and open to the public.

Activities will include face painting, balloon artists, a bounce house, music and kayak tours on Lake Powell as well as swimming in the beautifully designed Village Commons pool and playing in the nearby kids’ fort.  The kayak tours will be held at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and space is limited so registration is required.  Food will be available for purchase pool side from the WaterSound Beach Club.

The Two-Man’s Best Friend Scramble Tournament, which is a dog-friendly golf tournament, will also be held June 12 beginning at 9 a.m. at Origins Golf Club. Dogs are welcome to walk with tournament participants.  Cost for the 9-hole tournament is $45, with lunch included, and all proceeds will benefit the Alaqua Animal Refuge and the New Beginnings Animal Shelter. Participants who bring their dogs are reminded that no retractable leashes or prong collars are allowed.

The field is limited to only 40 players so register early by contacting The Origins Golf Club Pro Shop at 850-641-0460, ext. 1.  The registration deadline is June 5 and cash and check are the two accepted methods of payment.

Also on the weekend of June 12-13, WaterSound will host the second annual Soccer At The Surf Regional Soccer Tournament at its Wind Garden Park.  Organized by US98 Sports, Inc., this tournament draws players from all over the southeast representing various age groups and divisions. Tournament play begins at 9 a.m. and the public is welcome to come watch this sporting event. For more information on Soccer at The Surf, please visit www.us98soccer.com.

“We are delighted to host these family-friendly events at WaterSound and encourage locals and visitors alike to join in the fun,” says Bridget Precise, project manager for the WaterSound community.  “We’re especially honored to partner with the Alaqua Animal Refuge and the New Beginnings Animal Shelter and make the Two-Man’s Best Friend Scramble Tournament at Origins Golf Club part of the festivities.”
