The Walton County Department of Administration, in conjunction with the Walton County Board of County Commissioners, hosted a meet and greet and unveiled the preliminary plans for the new South Walton Sports Complex.
The County will be putting the construction project out for bid in December or January. The project should start in spring 2016, with a completion target of mid-summer 2017.
Site amenities include: event lawn, event pavilion, playground/water play, walking trails, small pavilions, restrooms, 2 baseball fields, batting cages, concession building, stadium bleachers with score box, multi-use fields, basketball court, sand volleyball court, tennis courts, pickleball courts.
The 34-acre parcel is located just east the Department of Forestry office on U.S. 98. The Walton County School board has purchased adjacent land for future use and connectivity to the park.
