Walton County fishing report for Aug. 10

King mackerel in the Gulf, speckled trout in the Bay

Salt: King mackerel still red hot right now, in the 12-15 lb. range using live bait and light tackle. Catching vermillion snapper, triggerfish, white snapper; small but good eating.  Catching amberjack farther offshore. Looking forward to gag grouper season September 16 through November 15, 2011

Bay: Speckled trout EARLY in the a.m. Catching on Mirrodine and Spooks lures. Folks also catching black drum throughout the day. Some redfish at the mouth of the river.

River: Folks headed out to the river are catching catfish.

Gator season opens Aug. 15.
