Walton County Extension Office offering vegetable gardening educational series Jan. 14 – Feb. 2, 2014

veggiesThe Walton County UF/ IFAS Extension presents Spring Into Vegetable Gardening interactive educational video series for novice gardeners. The classes will be held over the span of four Tuesday evenings at the Walton County Extension Office, 732 N. 9th Street, DeFuniak Springs starting Jan. 14, 2014. Cost: $30 per person or $45 /couple.

The classes will be held from 6 – 7:30 p.m. on the following days:
January 14 – Homeowner vegetable garden expectations: What to grow and seasonal information, site selection and improving soils
January 21 – Specifics on tomatoes, peppers, squash, and cucumber; seeding and transplanting basics
January 28 – General garden maintenance: watering, fertilizing, integrated pest management, management techniques for home gardeners
February 4 – Harvesting, troubleshooting vegetable garden problems
