Walton County Extension and Topsail Hill Preserve State Park hosting Earth Day activities April 16 – 21

Interpretives, movies, beach clean up and festival lined up

Throughout the week leading up to the Walton County Earth Day Festival, the University of Florida IFAS Extension and Topsail Hill Preserve State Park will be offering a variety of activities for youth and adults.  Each event is open to the public, if it is occurring in the park the gate fee is required.  Otherwise the events are free.  The following is a schedule of the upcoming activities, the highlighted events are the ones that occur out of the park:

Walton County Earth Week Events, events will take place at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park (park entrance fee required), unless otherwise specified:
Movie showings in the park require entrance prior to 7 p.m.

Monday 4/16
10 -11:30 a.m. (Kids Club) It’s all about the Sea
Meet at the Club House in Topsail Hill Preserve S.P.
7:30pm- Movie Showing-Turtle: The Incredible Journey
Meet at the Amphitheater in Topsail Hill Preserve S.P.

Tuesday 4/17
5:30 – 6:30 pm.: Coastal Dune Lake Hike
Meet at Tram Stop #2 at Topsail Hill Preserve S.P.
7:30 p.m. – Movie showing Planet Earth: Freshwater
Meet at the Amphitheater in Topsail Hill Preserve S.P

Wednesday 4/18
10 – 11:30 a.m. (Kids Club) It’s all about the Wind
Meet at the Club House in Topsail Hill Preserve S.P.
7:30 p.m. – Movie Showing-Planet Earth: Shallow Sea’s
Meet at the Amphitheater in Topsail Hill Preserve S.P

Thursday 4/19
9 a.m. -12 Noon: Coastal Dune Lake Tour

5:30 -6:30 pm.: Beach Ecosystems Hike

Friday 4/20
10 -11:30 a.m. (Kids Club) It’s all about the Earth
Meet at the Club House in Topsail Hill Preserve S.P.
7:30 p.m. – Movie Showing –  Planet Earth: Pole to Pole
Meet at North West Florida State College in room 134, located at 109 Greenway Trail, Santa Rosa Beach.

Earth Day Festival Events: April 21 at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park
The Department of Environmental Protection’s Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, the University of Florida IFAS Extension, Florida Sea Grant, and Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park invite you to the 4th Annual Walton County Earth Day Festival and 5K Race. The event will kick-off with a Beach Clean-Up, where you can pitch in and help clean up the Gem of the Emerald Coast. The festival will include: children’s activities, educational games, sustainability demos, music, guided hikes, a silent auction, food and fun for all ages. Many environmental agencies, local artists, and area businesses will be on hand to educate and entertain festival-goers.
· Earth Day Beach Clean-Up 8-10 a.m.
· Earth Day Festival 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

·  Star Gazing Event at 7:30 p.m.
Admission is FREE for this event, except the 5K Race is a $20 registration until the 18th. Please join us as we celebrate and share all the beauty that Walton County has to offer and make everyday Earth Day.
