Veterans Day events in Walton County Nov. 11 and 12

Sunday, Nov. 11:

Magnolia Cemetery: The annual Veterans Day ceremony will take place on November 11th at 11:11a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery Veteran’s Memorial in DeFuniak Springs. Local veteran’s groups will participate.

Free entrance to Florida State Parks: In honor of our nation’s veterans and active military personnel, day-use entry will be free to everyone at Florida’s state parks on Veterans Day, Sunday, Nov. 11. Pick your favorite outdoor activity – hiking, bicycling, bird watching or looking for shells on the beach – and enjoy a day at a state park.
Florida’s state parks offer free or discounted Annual Entrance Passes to those who currently serve or have served in the U.S. military branches, veterans with service-related disabilities and surviving spouses of members of the U.S. military who have fallen in combat. The discounted or free Florida State Parks Annual Entrance Pass is available at any Florida State Park staffed ranger station.

2 p.m. New monument located next to Veteran’s Memorial at City Hall
Presentation starts at 2 p.m. Dedication includes Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy along with keynote speakers and gun salute by Walton County Sheriff Honor Guard. Memorial unveiling by Glenda Penton.
