The UF/IFAS Walton County Extension Office will be celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Florida Extension by hosting an open house. The event will be at the DeFuniak Springs office at 732 N. 9th Street, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433 (another one will be at the Grayton location May 14).
The Smith-Lever Act of 1914 established the Cooperative Extension Service. Extension is a public outreach that has helped millions of Floridians by tapping the latest information from the research engines of the University of Florida and Florida A & M, converting it into practical knowledge we use every day. Extension provides educational materials, workshops, and classes to all Floridians about agriculture, lawn and garden care, family life and consumer choices, community development, the environment and 4-H youth development.
Join in on the celebration on Friday, May 9th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Extension Office will have FREE workshops and demonstrations open to the public.
