The future of farming with aquaponics lecture Apr. 4

Lecture to be held at Coast Branch Extension Office

The Walton County Master Gardeners will present the sixth in a series of lectures “How Does Your Garden Grow?” for local gardeners.  It will be on Wednesday, April 4th from 10 – 11:30 a.m.  The location is the Coastal Branch Extension Office at 70 Logan Lane in Grayton Beach, off CR 283 – just north of the 4 way stop.

Master Gardener, Sindi Hogenson, will present a fascinating program on growing plants in a water medium called Aquaponics.  This is different than hydroponics in that it employs a complete ecosystem.  It may be used by the homeowner or commercial grower to raise vegetables economically and eco-friendly in an area with poor soil like ours.

Light refreshments will be served.  Soil testing supplies and instruction will be available and Master Gardeners will be on hand to take gardening questions.  This program is free and open to the public.  However, seating is limited to 30 participants.  Please call Cheryl at 850-892-8172 to reserve a place.
