Leaders of the Walton County Coastal Dune Lake Advisory Board will be providing tours of the coastal dune lakes on Wednesday, October 28th from 9:00 a.m. to noon. County Commissioners and other legislators have been invited. The tour begins at the South Walton Courthouse Annex at 31 Coastal Centre Boulevard, Santa Rosa Beach, and the public is invited to caravan with officials as the tour proceeds to select coastal dune lakes along the Walton County coastline.
“Our mission is to demonstrate how significant these globally rare lakes are to our region,” says Marsha Anderson, chair of the Coastal Dune Lakes Advisory Board. “We hope this tour will improve our county’s chances of eventually securing a state or federal designation that will further protect these lakes for generations to enjoy.”
One bus is being provided for invited guests, and any remaining seats will be available to the public at no charge. This will be a public meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. Guests are welcome to join the caravan behind the bus as the tour proceeds down Scenic Highway 30A. The tour bus leaves promptly at 9:00 from the south Walton Courthouse Annex on Wednesday, October 28.
