Recreational red snapper season June 11 – July 20 in Gulf state and federal waters

The recreational red snapper season will start June 11 in Gulf state and federal waters and remain open through July 20, closing July 21. Another great tournament in the books for Old Nick’s Redfish Round Up

Great weather brought in 50 teams of anglers competing for big prize money at the 13th Annual Old Nick’s Redfish Round Up on May 5. A huge crowd showed up for the weigh in at Nick’s Seafood Restaurant on Basin Bayou in Freeport. In addition to the competition, live music, and a kid’s mullet toss rounded out the day. At its April meeting in Fort Lauderdale, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) approved several changes to the management of tripletail and sheepshead. Changes go into effect July 1, 2018, and include: Tripletail: Increasing the minimum size limit from 15 to 18 inches total length.
