Many people might simply drive by and not even notice a very special tree that graces the stately Circle Drive in DeFuniak Springs. However, according to the Walton County Heritage Association, this special Southern Magnolia (Magnolia Grandiflora) has a long history of residence dating back to 1840.

Last measured, the tree has a spreading crown of 72 feet, is 60 feet high, and has a trunk circumference of 12.5 feet. The tree ranks as the eighth largest of Florida’s champion trees.
