Help the Seaside Neighborhood garden efforts this summer by donating an hour or two of your time. Rewards are excellent, as your efforts will be rewarded with fresh veggies from the garden. They need help from June 5 – Aug. 23.

The kids will be out of school, which doesn’t mean the great teachers Kim Gordon and Snookie Parrish have lost their enthusiasm for continuing one of the best community gardens in Walton County!

No experience is necessary!

In case you are not familiar with the Summer Community Gardening, Kim has answered a few questions below:

WHAT DO I DO?   We’ll have an informational meeting for all volunteers to introduce you to the garden.  You’ll choose 1 day of the week to visit each week.  You’ll water the areas with no watering system, tend the plants as needed, and let us know if you see any problems.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT TO DO EACH WEEK?  We’ll post a checklist  in the shed, on which you initial what you do, look to see what others have done, and post any issues you might have.  Plus, we’ll be meeting in the garden as a group once a month to conquer the big tasks (it’s more fun as a group!), gauge our progress, and make any changes to the program we see fit.

I WANT TO PLANT!  Sounds great!  We would LOVE for you to plant your favorite plants!  Let us know what it is, and we can find the perfect spot for it to flourish this summer!  We also love any suggestions you might have to improve the garden… it’s yours, so let’s do what you want!!

CAN I TAKE FOOD HOME?  Of course, whenever you are there, you are invited to take home ripe produce.  You tend to it, you take it ;-))

I DON’T HAVE MUCH FREE TIME!  Gardening with us takes only 1-2 hours per week.  You pick the day and time. Family and friends are welcome to join you.

BUT I’M NOT AN EXPERIENCED GARDENER  It’s easy and we’ll be glad to help you get on the road to gardening.
