Here is a list of locations along with maps to help guide you in the right direction. Call the parks for current rates as most fluctuate during the year.

Check with each site for their fees as most all change seasonally. We have noted the free locations.

Formerly a private resort, Twin Lakes Resort is in the midst of remodeling and is now open to the public. Located on a peninsula between Holley and King Lake, this resort offers nice views of the two lakes with good fishing for bass and bream on the lake.

Northeast Walton

Located at the eastern end of Seven Runs Creek, Dead River opens to the Choctawhatchee River. The site has 16 primitive RV and tent camping areas with picnic tables and fire pits. The landing also has two covered pavilions with grills and a portable toilet.

**At Vortex Spring Adventures there are 40 water and electric campsites directly behind dive shop where you can camp with all the comforts of home. These sites may be reserved and reservations are recommended to ensure you will have a site. Each electric and water sites holds a maximum of 8 people, 2 vehicles, and 2 tents.

All water and electric sites have a picnic table and grill. There are no sewer hookups on the site, but a dump station is available for campers to use.

The popular boat launch, marina and RV park Black Creek Lodge in Freeport has new owners. Located directly on Black Creek in Freeport, the RV park and fish camp also offers overnight accommodations. Improvements and renovations are currently being done on the 4-room motel.

Enjoy camping along the Gulf of Mexico at Grayton Beach State Park. Grayton boasts 52 camp/RV sites and 27 cabin/duplexes. In the older section of the campground, trees and shrubs between the sites let you imagine you are miles from civilization, but with water, electric and a restroom with hot showers, roughing it is never too tough. The new campground loop provides 50 amp electric and onsite sewer. Pets are welcome in the campground.

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park offers 3 miles of beautiful sandy beaches along the Gulf Coast. 156 RV sites, 22 tent sties and 22 cottages are available at this beautiful State Park. WiFi hot spot, camp store, showers, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking trail, pavilions, shuffle-board, swimming pool and ranger activities. Twenty-two tent sites include an elevated tent pad, a fire ring and water and electric hook-ups. A restroom with showers is located in the tent camping area. Pets are welcome at the campsites. 

Campers can bike, walk or take a tram ride to the beach. A camp store offers camping items, as well as snacks and drinks. Reservations may be made up to 11 months in advance through ReserveAmerica.

Primitive campsites offered in Point Washington State Forest

The Point Washington State Forest now offers two primitive camping opportunities along Eastern Lake. Each with four primitive sites with a 14’x20′ tent pad, picnic table, barbecue grill, fire ring, lantern hanger, and toilets.

The sites are nestled in a high and dry area of sand pines and palmettos. Just a few steps away is a stunning view of Eastern Lake.

Directions From Road 2:
From U.S. Hwy. 98 turn on Road 2 (Point Washington State Forest – Public Entrance).

Point Washington State Forest is available to the public for various types of natural-resource based outdoor recreation. The forest is widely used for hunting, off-road bicycling and hiking.

Point Washington State Forest is part of the Point Washington Wildlife Management Area. The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission regulates the hunting seasons and game limits on the forest.

The Eastern Lake Trail System was the first trail established on the forest. This trail system consists of 3 double track loop trails. The hiker or bicyclist can travel the 3.5, 5 or 10 mile loop.  Access to the trail system is located at the parking lot and trail head on County Road 395.

In addition, a green way trail system that crosses the forest is being developed. This trail will provide connections to Grayton Beach State Park, Deer Lake State Park, Topsail Hill State Preserve, Butler Elementary School and numerous residential developments. Upon completion, this trail system will provide over 27 miles of trails for recreational use.
