Polar bear plunges in Santa Rosa Beach and Destin Jan. 1

Santa Rosa Beach: Ed Walline Beach Access

The South Walton Fire District in conjunction with Shunk Gulley will host their annual Polar Bear Plunge on New Year’s Day at Ed Walline Beach Access. The event will be held from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Registration is from 11 – 11:45 a.m. at Shunk Gulley located on the corner of Scenic Hwy. 30A and CR 393. The plunge will be across the street at Ed Walline Beach Access at 1 p.m. at 12:15 p.m. there will be a costume contest at the Shunk Gulley stage at Gulf Place.

FEE: $20 donation. The funds raised will go towards CPR classes in South Walton.

Celebrate after at the Shunk Gulley Green Space at Gulf Place. Food and drunk specials offered for plungers from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Destin: Henderson Beach State Park

Join Henderson Beach State Park for their annual Polar Plunge on New Years Day 2020. The first 150 Registered Polar Plungers will receive a Polar Plunge Goodie Bag. There is a $20 fee to pre register or $25 fee the day of event.

The registration fee includes the registered plunger’s state park entrance fee. Please note that any guests not registering for the plunge but attending the event will be charged a $2.00 fee to enter the park upon arrival. All proceeds benefit The Destin Fire Rescue Foundation that supports the Junior Life Guard Programs and The Friends of Henderson Beach State Park that provides funding and assistance to the state park. Do not forget to wear your favorite costume. There will be live music, refreshments and prizes!!!!

Registration opens at 9 a.m. and the Plunge into the Gulf will take place at 11 a.m.
