Brave souls get chilly on New Years Day

Want to start off the new year with a cool head? Head over to the various polar bear plunges in and around Walton County on Jan. 1.

Polar Bear Plunge at WaterColor Inn and Resort
Time: 8 a.m. ::MAP::
Take a Polar Bear Plunge beginning at 8 a.m. Jan. 1 on the beach in front of Beach Club at WaterColor Inn and Resort. Long sleeve shirts available for purchase.

Polar Bear Plunge Destin Crab Trap
Time: 11 a.m. – ::MAP::
Take the plunge at 11 a.m. Jan. 1 behind The Crab Trap at James Lee Park in Destin. $20 donation entry fee helps raise funds for the Destin Junior Lifeguards.  First 100 receive a T-shirt. Call (850) 685-0408 for more information.

Polar Bear Plunge Ponce De Leon Springs State Park
