November 25, 2018

Winter is upon us and it’s a great time to plant a tree. If you’re looking live off your land and add lovely fall color to your yard, then a pecan tree is the perfect choice.

The Walton County Master Gardeners would like to invite you to attend “Dooryard Pecan Production,” the latest installment of the Walton County Master Gardeners Lecture Series on Wednesday, December 5th from 10 am to 12 pm at the UF/IFAS Walton County Extension Office, 732 N 9th St., DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433. This workshop will feature Santa Rosa County Commercial Horticulture Agent, Matt Lollar, who will discuss pecan tree maintenance and variety selection. Learn which varieties perform best in Florida and why, how to properly plant and prune young trees, and how to increase yield. Cost of the program is $5, payable by cash or check only. Seating is limited so call 850-892-8172 or email duquem@ufl.edu to register and save your spot.
