Race 3 of Stand-Up Paddle Series

YOLO Board LLC announces the next race series date for their  2009 YOLO Board Stand-Up Paddle Series.

Baytowne Marina at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort will host race 3 at 5:30 p.m. on June 19.

Male and female division four-member teams will compete in a series of five races that will take place monthly for the champion title “2009 YOLO Board Cup Series” to be awarded after the final race in August.

Some new details re: tonight’s race:
Because of the bill fish tournament Baytowne anticipates having lots of spectators for the race!  YOLO event videos will be streaming on the giant Jumbotron during the event.  Parking will also be very limited so Sandestin has given some stipulations because of this event. There will be no parking available at the marina or tennis courts parking lot.  Carpooling is suggested!  Each team will have only one board – this will make it easier because the starting area is smaller.  YOLO will fill the paddlers in upon arrival with the semantics for the board transfer for the relay.  Paddlers are welcome to bring as many paddles as they would like.  Board drop off will be available at the Baytowne Marina turn around, however after they are dropped off, all paddlers and spectators will have to drive back to the entrance and take the tram back to the marina.  As a result, YOLO is advising everyone to come early!  Paddlers are also advised to bring water shoes to protect their feet from the oyster shells in the bay.

Next race dates (weather permitting) are at 5:30 p.m. July 23 at Western Lake at WaterColor Boat House, and August 13 (TBA).  A one time race entry fee is $140 per team.
