Beach access now boasts 141 parking spaces and ADA access
Representatives from the Walton County Tourist Development Council, Walton County, Pompano Joe’s, Vision Construction, The South Walton Fire District and Taylor Engineering were on hand for a ribbon cutting May 18 to officially open the new parking facilities at Miramar Beach Regional Access on Scenic Gulf Drive.

After eight months of construction, the $4.6 million project boasts 141 parking spaces, restrooms and three accesses to the beach including one ADA access.
After the loss of the parking area from Hurricane Dennis in 2005, the County applied for the necessary permits to rebuild the parking deck. More than $3 million of the total project costs were covered through hurricane recovery funds from FEMA. The rest of the funding cam through TDC bed tax collections.

The parking deck is fortified with cement pilings, which offers support against storm surge problems.
This is one of three regional beach accesses that now offer a beach wheelchair for those in need. The other two locations are Ed Walline Beach Access and Bramble Grove/Santa Clara Street in Seagrove.
