Give BIG, Give Local on Apr. 4

March 26, 2009

givebigHelp fill local food banks while you enjoy a day of great music

Give BIG volunteers have coordinated a local food drive to collect canned food items for the Harvest House, St. Andrew’s By the Sea Episcopal Church, Destin Harvest, Ronald McDonald House and child sized toothbrushes and toothpaste for the Children’s Volunteer Health Network. Collection boxes are located in area businesses throughout Okaloosa and Walton counties. This collection will run the entire month of March.

This is a combined effort in the community to raise funds to assist those in need. The apex of the Give BIG drive will be the all day musical festival held at Baytowne Wharf on April 4, featuring live entertainment from local music favorites, and finale by The Wailers.

ALL ticket proceeds will go to Friends of the World Food Program, the U.S. based non-profit organization dedicated to mobilizing resources and building support for the World Food Program. Children under 12 attending the event will be asked to bring a canned food item and child sized toothbrushes to aid local charities. Local vendors will sell their crafts and jewelry, donating a portion of their sales to the GIVE BIG effort.
