Friends of Camp Helen State Park hosting Saturday concert series

lodgeThe Friends of Camp Helen State Park are hosting a Saturday concert series. The concerts will be held in the lodge from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Come join in for a unique series of concerts featuring the best American Roots musicians touring the country today. This impressive series of indoor concerts at Camp Helen’s historic log cabin style lodge is sponsored by Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection and the Friends of Camp Helen State Park. The series is hosted by Lucky Mud.

Free admission into the park, with donation requested. Donations will go directly to the Friends of Camp Helen State Park to be used to benefit the park’s resource management projects and interpretive programs. Refreshments available.

Sat., Feb. 15 – Lucky Mud
Touring Americana musicians whose original music is being played around the world, Lucky Mud is returning from their ninth tour of Ireland. They’ve played most of the major Florida folk music festivals for the last ten years, including the Florida Folk Festival and the Will McLean Folk Festival.

Fri., Feb. 28 – Achilles Wheel
Singer/songwriters and frontmen, Paul Kamm and Jonny Mojo of Achilles Wheel bring the high energy and engaging stage presence of the full band Achilles Wheel, but they take their music to a quieter place. This unlikely creative partnership brings a multitude of musical influences to their sound, paying tribute to a multitude of musical cultures.

Sat., March 8 – Dana Cooper
A songwriter/performer who “leads with his heart,” Cooper brings 50 years of experience to Camp Helen, including performances on Austin City Limits and Mountain Stage. Whether you’ve got writers’ block, need to find your voice, or want a satisfying and rewarding evening, you’ll find what you need with him.

Fri., March 28 – Alicia McGovern
Alicia McGovern, 2012 winner of the Kerrville Folk Festival, stands out as a singer/songwriter. You’ll want to pay careful attention to her lyrics. Her performance will be authentic, vulnerable, and compelling.

Sat., May 3 – Carly Bak
Singer/Songwriter Carly Bak says her passions “all stem from my childhood infatuation with nature, music, folklore and watching people. She weaves soulful harmonies, rhythmic Americana melodies with a blend of folk/blues/rock textures—drawing on influences such as Joni Mitchell, Patsy Cline, Emmylou Harris, Etta James, and the Eagles.

Camp Helen is located at 23937 Panama City Beach Parkway, Panama City Beach, FL, just west of the Phillips Inlet bridge on the Bay County and Walton county line. The entrance is south of U.S. Hwy 98. ::MAP::
