Foraging workshop in DeFuniak Springs Aug. 16

August 7, 2018

From chickweed to wild mushrooms, there are plenty of foods to forage if you know what to look for. With that in mind, the University of Florida IFAS Extension Service is presenting an educational workshop on foraging in the North Florida area. It will be held starting at the Walton County Extension Office in DeFuniak Springs with a field trip to Little Creek Woods on Thursday, August 16 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM CST, and there will be a $10 fee to attend.

Mark Hainds of LBW Community College in Andalusia, AL, will be a guest speaker and guide for this workshop. To register (please do, space is limited) or for more information, please contact the Walton County Extension Office at (850) 892-8172 or haneyc@ufl.edu. Please be prepared to transport yourself to the field trip (6.3 miles from the Extension office) and for a light hike in the woods when you arrive.

The Walton County Extension office is located at 732 N 9th St. in DeFuniak Springs.
