Florida Forest Service announce temporary camp closures at Pine Log and Lake Talquin

The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service Florida State Forest announce temporary campground closures due to Hurricane Michael:

Forest campground closures October 20, 2018

Pine Log State Forest’s Sand Pond Pavilion and the Bloxham Tract and pavilion at Lake Talquin State Forest has opened on Saturday, October 20th. Tree removal continues in the effort to open back up forest tracts and campsites. Campgrounds, facilities and State Forest Tracts listed below will be closed until further notice.

Pine Log State Forest

  • Sand Pond Group Camp
  • Pine Log Primitive Campsites
  • Baptism Hole Group Camp

Lake Talquin State Forest

  • Ft. Braden Primitive Campsites
  • Lines Youth Group Camp
  • Bear Creek Youth Group Camp

All other Florida State Forest campgrounds will remain open at this time. The Florida Forest Service takes the welfare and best interests of our citizens seriously. They are implementing these campground closures to ensure the safety of our residents and campground visitors after Hurricane Michael.

State Forest tract closures

Lake Talquin State Forest: Talquin (or Hwy 20) Tract, Joe Budd, Rocky Comfort, Midway, Bloxham and the North & South Ochlockonee Tracts of Lake Talquin State Forest are open, all other tracts are closed. See below for a list of closed tracts.

  • Fort Braden Tract
