What folks are catchin’ and baggin’ in Walton

Sonja at Copeland’s tells me fishing has been very good with folks catching speckled trout, redfish, sheepshead and striper. As long as you don’t mind the chilly weather!

Hunting:

Yahoo! The deer appear to be in rut!

Hunters have seen a lot of activity and have been saying the best time is early morning around 7 a.m.

Muzzleloading gun next days open: Feb. 19 – March 1
General gun: Dec. 13 – Feb. 18
Fall turkey* Dec. 13 – Jan. 18
Quail and gray squirrel: through March 1
Bobcat and otter: Dec. 1 – March 1
Spring turkey** March 21 – April 26,
Wild hog, rabbit, raccoon, opossum, coyote, nutria, skunk
and beaver may be taken year-round.
* Except for Holmes County where there is no fall harvest of turkeys allowed.
** Spring turkey season is limited to March 21- April 5 in Holmes County
