April 20, 2018

May 10, 2018 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Spring is here, and everywhere outdoors things are growing. This is a prime time to get out and look for things to eat. From chickweed to wild mushrooms, there are plenty of foods to forage if you know what to look for. With that in mind, the University of Florida IFAS Extension Service is presenting an educational workshop on foraging in the North Florida area. It will be held starting at the Walton County Extension Office in DeFuniak Springs with a field trip to Seven Pines Native Nursery on Thursday, May 10 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM CST, and there will be a $10 fee to attend.

Mark Hainds of LBW Community College in Andalusia, AL, will be a guest speaker and guide for this workshop. To register (please do; space is limited) or for more information, please contact the Walton County Extension Office at (850) 892-8172 or Please be prepared to transport yourself to the field trip (6.3 miles from the Extension office) and for a light hike in the woods when you arrive.
