Join Topsail Hill Preserve State Park on Kids to Parks Day for a Kid Safety Expo and a “Cache In, Trash Out” Adventure on May 19, 2018 from 9:00a.m. – 2:00p.m.  Participants will be exploring the park by foot while looking for thirteen geocache locations.  At each location visited, event participants will learn more about the area of the park they are in and help maintain it by picking up trash as they go.  The Kids Safety Expo will be from 9:00a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and will have fun activities for kids to learn about being safe while outdoors.  The Kids Safety Expo and check in for the “Cache In, Trash Out” adventure will be at the amphitheater between 9am – 2pm.  Participants will need a GPS or a smart phone capable with GPS, water, weather appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes.

Event attendees will also get to see all six of the educational signs, Cadette Girl Scout, Abigail Fleischmann, created as part of her Girl Scout Silver Award service project and gifted to the park last year.  Fleischmann is a Girl Scout from the Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida Girl Scout Council and worked on this project for over sixty hours while her parents were resident volunteers at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park last year.  Fleischmann spent her time conducting research, taking photographs, designing and soliciting financial support so the signs could be produced to a quality the park could use immediately.  The signs are used regularly by the park in kiosks, events and at outreach booths to help educate people about the wildlife in the park.  Often only one sign is seen at a time.  As a special treat, during the Kids to Parks Day event, attendees will see all six signs created by Fleischmann in one place.

Event is free with regular park admission. A $6.00 entry admission per vehicle into the park. Topsail Hill Preserve State Park is located at 7525 W. Scenic Highway 30A, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32459. For more information, call (850) 267-8330 ::MAP::
