Well-known local gardening author and lecturer, Marie Harrison will present a program on choosing camellias for your north Florida garden on Wednesday, January 4, 2017.  It will be from 10 a.m. until noon at the Walton Extension – Coastal Branch.  It is located at 70 Logan Lane in Grayton Beach which runs west off CR 283 just north of the 4-way stop.

Marie is an Okaloosa Master Gardener, Florida Federation of Garden Clubs Board Member, an Accredited Flower Show Judge and National Garden Clubs, Inc. Horticulture Instructor.  Her photographs will inspire local gardeners to cultivate these amazing plants which bloom all winter here.  There are several species and hundreds of cultivars of camellias which are in the tea plant family.  Learn which ones are most successfully grown locally.

The cost of the program is $5, payable at the door.  This includes the program, instructional handouts and light refreshments will be served. Seating is limited and reservations are required.  Contact Cheryl at 850-892-8172 or haneyc@ufl.edu to save your place by Tuesday, 1/3/17.

Master Gardeners will be on hand to take gardening questions and soil sample instructions and supplies will be available for $8 including shipping.  This is a service of UF/IFAS and Walton Extension.  Master Gardeners are at this location every Wednesday from 9:00 AM until noon to help with garden problems and plant ID.
