There is roughly 15,000 head of cattle in Walton County, making them an important part of area agriculture. The University of Florida/Walton County Extension and the Panhandle Cattlemen’s Association is offering an educational program from 3 – 5 p.m. in Paxton to help livestock owners stay competitive and up to date on the business.

The event will begin with a ranch visit at Windy Hill Ranch, 883 Highway 2, beginning at 3 p.m. followed by a meal and program at 4:30 p.m. at the Paxton Ag Center, 22036 Hwy 331 North in Paxton.

Topics covered will include:
• Alternative markets for your cattle
• Advantages of a branded beef program
• How to read market reports
• Management strategies that pay at market time

Come enjoy a great Akaushi steak and all the fixings and fellowship with local cattle producers and members of the Panhandle Cattlemen’s Association. There will be a $10 fee to attend, which includes a raffle ticket for a new Stihl chainsaw; dinner is included.
