Warm temperatures and flat water on the Choctawhatchee Bay proved the perfect setting for the Encierro DeBoros, or Running of the Boards SUP race on July 11.

Waterman Gulf Coast sponsored the event which benefited the SWFD Junior Lifeguard program. The race was held at Senor Mojitos at the foot of the Clyde B. Wells (U.S. Hwy. 331) bridge.

Red sashes were worn by the particpants, as the day’s event was a fun, paddle board version of Spain’s most internationally renowned festiva, Sanfermines. Kids on paddle boards were “the bulls,” armed with water canons and chased the “runners,” (adults) on their boards. In addition, there were kid’s, women’s and men’s races held earlier.
