Nick’s Seafood Restaurant & Red Bay Grocery presents rimfire and shotgun squirrel tournament
Nick’s Seafood Restaurant & Red Bay Grocery are hosting the 2009 Choctawhatchee River Squirrel Hunting Championship Nov. 21 at the Red Bay Grocery. Hunters must register by 7 p.m. on Nov. 20. Download a registration form by clicking here: Squirrel Hunt Entry Form
Please sign and return the registration form to either Nick’s Seafood Restaurant or Red Bay Grocery prior to 7:00 p.m. on November 20, 2009. No entry forms will be accepted after this time.
Hunt begins at safe daylight on Saturday, November 21, to 12:00 p.m., Payback: 100% payback over the top five (5) places: 1st – 50%, 2nd – 20%, 3rd – 15%, 4th – 10%, 5th – 5%, of total entry fees, minus tournament expenses.
Entry fee is $25 and starts at safe daylight on Nov. 21. Awards lunch and squirrel fry held immediately after tournament ends at 12:00 pm. All registered hunters get a free plate.
Divisions: Rimfire & Shotgun
Payback: 100% payback over the top five (5) places: 1st – 50%, 2nd – 20%, 3rd – 15%, 4th – 10%, 5th – 5%, of total entry fees, minus tournament expenses. Tournament will be held at Red Bay Grocery, 8704 Highway 81, Red Bay, FL. *All hunters must register by 7:00 pm on November 20, 2009 to be eligible.
Scoring: Six (6) squirrels will be scored on a points system for each division.
Rimfire Division: .22 or .17 caliber ONLY. Six (6) squirrels scored. Each squirrel is worth three (3) points, with bonus points awarded as follows: One
(1) bonus point for a head shot, and one (1) bonus point for boars (squirrels with nuts). The total may not exceed five (5) points per squirrel or thirty (30) points total. Squirrel may only be shot once (in the head) to be eligible for head shot bonus points.
Shotgun Division: Six (6) squirrels will be scored. Each squirrel is worth three (3) points. There will be one (1) bonus point awarded for each boar (squirrel with nuts). The total may not exceed four (4) points per squirrel or twenty-four (24) points total.
Tie Breaker: In the event of a tie in either division, the hunter with the earliest official scoring time takes precedence.
The tournament ends at 12:00 pm, on November 21, 2009. ANY contestant not checked in with a tournament director by 12:00 p.m. will be disqualified from entering any squirrels. Entry fee is non-refundable.
