Residents along Choctawhatchee River now urged to evacuate

The Choctawhatchee River is experiencing major flooding around the river banks.  Residents with homes prone to flooding in this area are urged to evacuate.  Should you need assistance, call the Emergency Operations Center at (850) 892-8065.

Walton County is still in a state of emergency because of the number of rural roads still under water or damaged from recent rains.  The Emergency Operations Center is open, and damage assessments and road repairs are undwerway.  Many road crew workers and numerous agencies are involved in working towards getting those roads open – but some may take several days.
