Choctawhatchee Audubon programs and events for October

CAScolorlogoJoin the Choctawhatchee Audubon Society at one of their programs or events in Northwest Florida.

October 2: Program: The Bird Life of New Zealand will be presented by master birder, Lenny Fennimore at the regular monthly meeting. Lenny is a Cornell-trained, globe-trotting ornithologist who will share slides and stories from his recent birding trip down under. His extensive knowledge and keen wit will both educate and entertain.

The Choctawhatchee Audubon Society meets the first Thursday of the month in Room 130 of the NWFSC Student Services Center at 6:30 PM.  The program starts at 7 PM following conservation topics at 6:45.  The meeting is open to the public. October 11. Explore the Outdoors Festival, Chipley Park, De Funiak Springs.  Help children learn to identify birds.  Bring lawn chair, water & sack lunch. Behind the First Presbyterian Church. For more info, call Lori Ceier at 850-267-2064.

October 18. Bird Walk and search for migratory song birds at Fort Pickens, Gulf Islands National Seashore, with noted ornithologist Alan Knothe.  Meet at Uptown Station, Eglin Pkway, at 7:00.  Closed shoes, long pants & insect repellent are advised.  Bring a picnic lunch for those who would care to remain in the area. October 25. Destin Beach & Choctawhatchee Bay with Bruce Purdy. Meet in parking lot at SW corner of Marler (Destin) Bridge over East Pass at 7:30 a.m.  Look for ducks and shorebirds. Call Bruce at 850-359-5334 for more info.
