December 5: Monthly Meeting and Program: Pictorial Survey of Birds that are Rare or Difficult to Identify during the Christmas Bird Count by Alan Knothe, biologist.  The Christmas Bird Count is an internationally recognized survey monitoring the population of birds.  Alan, a noted birding expert, will explain the key identification features for rare or unusual sightings using high quality digital photography. The meeting will be held in Room 130 of the new Student Services Building at Northwest Fla. State College. Socializing with light refreshments begins at 6:30 PM, and the programs begin at 7:00. December 7: Bird Walk at the Okaloosa Landfill led by Alan Knothe. See our guests: sparrows and other songbirds, ducks, raptors, shorebirds, and wading birds. Bring binoculars, cameras, and spotting scopes, and wear good shoes. Meet at Coach and Four Restaurant on North Lewis Turner Blvd., Ft Walton, at 7:30 AM. Call Alan at 850-862-3498 for more info.
