CAScolorlogoApril 3: MONTHLY MEETING PROGRAM: “Optics for Birding” will be presented by local nature photographer and lifelong optics lover, Walt Spence. Spence will cover various types of binoculars and spotting scopes, and will also discuss their practical use. As this will be geared for beginners, emphasis will be placed on selecting the right equipment, and getting the most out of it.

The meeting will be held in Room 130 on the ground floor of the Student Services Center at the Niceville campus of Northwest Florida State College, and will begin at 6:30 PM with socializing and light refreshments. April 5-6: ANNUAL RETREAT:  St. George’s Island, Sportsman’s Lodge, 99 N Bayshore Drive Eastpoint, FL 32328, Ph: 850 670 8423 for reservations. Directions:- Go east on 98 across Appalachicola Bay, then make the first left turn onto N Bayshore.  It’s about half a mile north on the left. Lots of rustic charm and superior birding. April 26: CHOCTAWHATCHEE ESTUARY FAMILY FESTIVAL: Come see us at this outstanding educational event at Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park on SR 20 near Niceville from 10Am – 3PM. We’ll be hosting games for kids and demonstrating the use of binoculars and scopes for birding and nature watching.
