Workshop on managing lands to improve wild turkey habitat in Feb. 23

The public is invited to a Breakfast on the Back Forty workshop on Thursday, Feb. 23, in Okaloosa County about how to improve wild turkey habitat on private lands. Bay County Shooting Range grand opening set for Nov. 19

Grand opening celebration features free opportunities for the whole family to safely enjoy target shooting at a new, full-service range. The new Bay County Shooting Range officially debuts its state-of-the-art 18-station sporting clays course, 5-stand sporting clays, and multiple position rifle and pistol ranges at a grand opening celebration Saturday, Nov. 19. Hunter safety courses offered in August, September

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering free hunter safety courses in six counties in August and September. (List follows). Students who have taken the online course and wish to complete the classroom portion must bring the online-completion report with them. FWC votes to postpone bear hunting in 2016

EASTPOINT, Fla. – July 22 the seven-member Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) voted to postpone bear hunting in Florida in 2016. Although the framework for bear hunting in Florida remains in place, there will be a zero hunt objective set for 2016, and the Commission could consider future bear hunting in 2017.
