Walton County fishing and hunting report for Oct. 6

Lots of flounder being caught in the bay!

Bay: Lots of flounder are being caught with a hook and line.  Redfish in all sizes along with speckled trout and a few Spanish mackerel being caught as well. Some folks reporting they are catching flounder, reds and speckled trout all in one trip. A good bit of wind out there on the water.

Fresh:  Crappie and shellcracker being caught. Some reports of fly fishing still being good. A few reports of a very large snake in the lower end of the river, some saying it’s a ball python.

Gulf: Lots of large sand fleas, but not much pompano yet.

Hunting: First phase of dove season open but not many seen. Folks are tuning up their bows for the season
