Walton County fishing and hunting report for Dec. 8

Speckled trout in the bay, some hybrids at the mouth of the river

Bay:  Abundance of speckled trout being caught with DOAs and MirrOdines.  Sheepshead being caught with shucked clams and drum with fiddler crabs and soft baits such as Electric Chicken.

Fresh: Mostly crappie. Some hybrids being caught at the mouth of the river with live shrimp and crank baits. Folks are catching hybrids up the 3 lbs.

Danny Copeland wants to remind folks that the resident shoreline license is free. Come on by!

Hunting: General gun season reopens Dec.11 – 25. Don’t forget you need a $5 deer license!

Deer:
Muzzleloading Gun Season: Dec. 4–10 and Feb. 21–27 – Antlered deer only by muzzleloader, crossbow or bow
General Gun Season: Dec. 11 – Feb. 20
Antlered deer entire season; antlerless deer may be taken Dec. 26 – Jan. 1 by all legal
center fire rifles and pistols, shot guns, muzzleloaders, crossbows and bows

Fall Turkey (gobblers and bearded only):
Zone D (except Holmes County)
Crossbow Season: Nov. 29 – Dec. 3
Muzzleloading Gun Season: by muzzleloader, crossbow or bow only Dec. 4–10,
crossbow or bow only
General Gun Season: Dec. 11 – Jan. 16 by all legal rifles, shot guns,
muzzleloaders, crossbows, bows and pistols

Quail and gray squirrel
Archery Season: Oct. 23- Nov. 12
