LakeFest family festival on Lake DeFuniak May 20

Enjoy a day of family fun during LakeFest around Lake DeFuniak Saturday, May 20, 2017. The day starts out with the LakeFest 5K Run/Walk starting a 7 a.m. The day also offers a kid zone with water slides, vendors, cash prize hunts, antique car show, along with entertainment at the amphitheater. The headliner this year is Josh Buckley. New this year is cardboard boat races. Prepare to bring a chair and watch the water races and extra clothes and a towel if you will be participating in any of the water activities.

This year Ben Merrell with Pro Hydroflight Athlete will contuct a fly boarding demonstration at 11 a.m.

The LakeFest 5K run/walk brings back the tradition of racing around Lake DeFuniak while encouraging wellness across the community. This 5K run/walk will start at and end on beautiful Circle Drive at Lake DeFuniak. The scenic paved run will showcase many of DeFuniak’s over 200 homes listed on the historic register. Cool down afterwards at the Dash n’ Splash fun run starting at 11 a.m. with family and friends.

The LakeFest 5K Run/Walk will start at the Chautauqua Center on 96 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435 and ends at the same location.

Runners can register here up until the race starts. Registration starts at $20 and pre-registration includes a great Lakefest gift with your registration. More information about the run and the race course can be found at defuniakspringslakefest.com

The Dash N’ Splash Fun Run is aquatic themed and will begin at 11:30 a.m. Participants will get SOAKED from water features along the all paved route. This race is included with the 5K registration fee or as a separate event for those who do not want to run the 5K. $5 per individual or $20 for 4-9 immediate family members in a household.
