Proceeds benefit Backpacks of Love
Nick’s Seafood Restaurant is hosting a Kids Catfish Tournament on July 7, 2012. Entry fee is $20 per angler with proceeds to benefit the Backpacks of Love Foundation. All anglers must register at Nick’s Seafood at Basin Bayou by 7 p.m. on Fri., July 6. All fisher girls and boys will be awarded prizes. Anglers may start from their desired location in waters on or adjacent to the Choctawhatchee Bay in Okaloosa and Walton counties. Tournament starts at safe daylight on Sat., July 7.
The tournament is open to all kids ages 14-years and younger, three (3) catfish limit, saltwater species (hardheads or sailcats). Fish may be caught in a boat, on a dock or from the shoreline. Adults present may assist kids with handling fish but may not reel fish in for them (baiting and casting and use of landing net only). Live or artificial bait, rod and reel only, no jugs, cast nets or noodling. Note: Catfish have three spines, use caution when handling. Scoring will be based on biggest weight for a single fish and a combine weight of 3 catfish (saltwater species). Click here for more info: Catfish tournament
Weigh in times are between 4 – 5 p.m. with the scale opening at 4 p.m. Contestants must be check int with a tournament official before 5 p.m. to have their catfish scored. Nick’s Seafood Restaurant is located at 7585 Hwy. 20 W, Freeport. Call (850) 835-2222 or (850) 830-6161.
