Gulf red snapper sport season closes Aug. 15

Season to reopen on June 1, 2010

redsnapThe recreational harvest season for red snapper in all waters of the Gulf of Mexico off Florida closes on Aug. 15.  This closure will help rebuild overfished red snapper stocks in the Gulf so anglers can enjoy better red snapper fishing in the future.

The recreational harvest of Gulf red snapper is scheduled to reopen on June 1 next year.  More information about red snapper management and regulations is available online at MyFWC.com/RulesAndRegs/Saltwater_Regulations_Snapper.htm.
