Audubon Florida seeking shorebird stewards for area State Parks

It is beach bird nesting season with birds and chicks out on the beaches with lots of beach goers. Bird stewards are needed to help with their survival. By helping to educate the public and heading off disturbances by volunteering with Audubon Florida.

“If you can spare a few hours a week, month or season, your help would be greatly appreciated. We need help every weekend thru summer, but especially on holiday weekends. Memorial Day weekend is just around the corner.  Please let me know when you are available. Saturday and Sunday are the busiest days” said Bonnie Samuelson, Audubon Florida project coordinator.

Volunteers needed for:
Saturday and Sunday;  10 am – 1:30 pm shift; and 1:30 pm to 5 pm shift.
Monday, Memorial Day: 10 am-1:30; and 1:30 – 5 pm shifts

Coverage at nesting sites at Tyndall AFB, St. Andrews State Park, Camp Helen SP, Grayton Beach SP,  Deer Lake, Topsail Hill State Parks, St. Joe Peninsula SP are needed.

Additionally, there are some bird steward training walks scheduled at both St. Andrews State Park and Grayton Beach State Park on May 10th and 17th.
